ALSO PRESENT: Clerk Serena Thomas 26 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE: Cllrs Anita Bowen, Mike Sander, Barrie Guard and Ward member Ron Thomas 27 DISCLOSURES OF INTEREST FROM MEMBERS: None Received 28 MEETING WITH : No meetings arranged. 29 PUBLIC REPRESENTATIONS: None received. 30 COUNCIL MINUTES – 6th June 2007 a) the Minutes were accepted as a true record except that the following Councillors were absent from the meeting but had not been removed from present list - Barrie Guard, Anthony Yardley, Peter Johns, Mike Egan and Ros Holt. They were however (excluding Anthony Yardley) correct;y reported to Council under apologies for absence. b) Matters arising: Noted. The written report of the Clerk regarding matters arising and subsequent actions taken was noted. 31 REPORTS BY THE WARD MEMBER No report 32 PLANNING MATTERS The Clerk commented upon her written report. RESOLVED : 2007/1445 - Land adjacent to 131 Cecil Rd, Gowerton. Establish accuracy of initial outline application advising no removal of trees necessary. 33 CHAIRMAN’S ANNOUNCEMENTS Cllr Gareth Evans reported the following: 1. Attended One Voice Wales AGM, Cllr Sue Jones has been elected as chair. 2. Llangyfelach have 3 x flower fountains which have not been vandalised, Cllr Evans checked with landlords of Public House opposite site of flowers to enquire whether they had previously encountered problems with vandalism, they stated they had no issues. 3. Cllr Evans has been notified that the NEAT Team (Neighbourhood Environmental Action Team) They will be visiting every ward twice over the next 12 months. - Contact name - Wynne Lawrence 4. Letter has been received from Ron Thomas re: previous meeting and discussion re: Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr and subsequent alleged comments made - Letter read in full to Council- Clerk to contact in due course. 24 REPORT OF THE CLERK (A) MISCELLANEOUS The Clerk further commented upon her report, previously circulated with the agenda. RESOLVED that: 1) Community Service Award: This will take place after this meeting. Noted 2) Community Council Forum. Date of next meeting. Noted 3) Swansea in Bloom management committee meeting minutes. Noted 4) One Voice Wales - AGM - Saturday 13th October 2007 5) Gowerton School Newsletter. Circulated 6) Invitation to ’free at last’ event. Noted 7) Ombudsman Annual Report. Noted 8) Alleged Public rights of way at rear of Gorwydd Rd. Letter read noted 9) Clerk to arrange a supply headed note paper and business cards so save on printing costs. No written reports. (C) CORRESPONDENCE The items of correspondence were noted and the Clerk informed Members of the 4 additional item received. 25 QUESTIONS RELATIVE TO COUNCIL BUSINESS Following question/issues raised by Members it was RESOLVED that: 1. Phone call received in relation to car park by the Commercial and anti social incidents. Cllr S Jones has advised them to keep a record of incidents to advise Police. 2. House at bottom of Park Rd, hedge has been cleared between house and bus bay. Clerk to check with planning if there is anything planned for this area. 3. Kirsty Burgess has received a young achiever award. Clerk to write and commend. 4. Parcel of land behind Hill street - by Sylvesters behind bus stop. Clerk to check who owns this land. 5. A Hypodermic syringe has been found by Tesco on Brynymor Rd -concern is raised in relation to possible drug problem. Advise Police. 6. There is a large puddle of water in Shaws Wood, encountered between woods and Brynymor Rd. Clerk to contact Parks department. 7. Drovers point is still encountering vision problems when exiting site, due to poor parking of vehicles. Clerk to advise traffic. 8. There has been an incident of damage due to vandalism of a Councillors garden, garden furniture and trampoline. It has also been reported that their home telephone number has also been written in graffiti around the village. Clerk to contact City and County of Swansea graffiti removal team when locations are advised. Meeting closed at 8.45pm ………………………………… Chairman
