38 MEETING WITH :  PC Phil Barrow
PC Phil Barrow- reported the following:
There has been a recent problem with car vandalism in area, with one particular vehicle on a recent Saturday night.  Up to this Saturday there crime figures have been low, however due to the amount of reported crime related to this incident, it has now bumped up the areas crime rate average.
Council reported some used syringes in certain areas within Gowerton, which cause concern, PC barrow stated that the Police and Neighbourhood Watch have had good success in getting information on problem residence.  This has resulted in several drugs warrants being carried out.
Councillor asked whether PC Barrow thought that CCTV would impact on the drugs problems, he stated he thinks that most drug related issues happen in the privacy of people homes so this would have limited success.
Council also reported that issues are being reported to Council due to encountered problems after hours in Gowerton Surgery Car Park.  PC Barrow stated he is aware of the problem, as on a recent Tuesday night, there were 24 cars with youths parked up late at night.
Pc Barrow finally encouraged all Councillors to come along to the PACT meetings, which give an open forum with the residents to discuss local issues, however if Council wish to have Police attendance at meetings due to a specific issue, he would be glad to attend.
Council requested PC Barrow to bring along crime figures for Gowerton.
