Ilston Community Council

 


At a meeting of the Ilston Community Council held at Penmaen and Nicholaston Parish Hall on Wednesday, 24 March 2010
Present:              Councillors Mrs. J. A. Griffiths, P. Burgess, Mrs. C. Grove, Mrs. J. Llewellyn,  Tom Beynon (Nicholaston) and R. Church.

In the Chair:       Councillor Mrs. J. A. Griffiths.

                            Councillor Mrs. F. Owen-John was representing the Council in Murton at a meeting on Gower AONB Design Guide Councillors Workshop being held at the same time.

 

1.       Apologies for Absence.

          Apologies for absence were received from Councillors V. Jones, N. Hollett, W. Anderson and T. Beynon (North Hills).

 

2.       Minutes.

          The minutes of the meeting held on 24 February 2010 were confirmed and signed as a true record.          

 

3.       Matters Arising.

On 3.4      Shed at The Forge, Cartersford.  Noted still ongoing.

On 4(b)    Monitoring Strategy (dredging) Nobel and Helwick Banks.   Noted that the Clerk had taken this matter up with the Clerk to Port Eynon Community Council (meeting held 12 months ago between Port Eynon, Alan Cairns AM, etc.) who had stated a further meeting will be called when Alan Cairns AM reports back to Port Eynon.

 

4.       Reports from Members.

Noted Councillor W. Anderson would report back on the Community Councils Forum held on 16th March 2010 to the next meeting.

Councillor R. Church reported that there was nothing back as yet from the Authority in respect of the Rural Business Project – Village Enhancement Scheme, but three individuals had shown interest.

 

5.       Planning Applications.

          The weekly lists were received.

          There were no planning applications for consideration on this occasion.

 

6.       Correspondence

          Received and noted:-     

a)       Agenda, Community Councils Forum 16/3/2010 – attended by Councillor W. Anderson who would report back to next meeting. 

b)      Letter dated 22 March 2010, Mazars, Southampton – Notice of Audit of Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2010 to be returned by 3 September 2010.  Noted that the appointed date is    1 September 2010.

c)       Finance Department, C & C of Swansea, dated 3 March 2919 – Precept payment dates 2010/2011:

d)      Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners letter dated 9.3.10 – Gower AONB Design Guide Councillors Workshop, 7.00 p.m., Wednesday, 24 March 2010, Murton Community Centre.  Noted Councillor Mrs. F. Owen-John attending meeting at this time and will report back to next meeting.

e)       Reynoldston Community Council letter dated 22/3/10 to Chief Constable South Wales Police – re plans to alter Reynoldston Police Station – copy for information.

f)       Letter dated 24.2.10¸ One Voice Wales – re membership 2010-11.

g)       NT Spring/Summer 2010 issue of “Peninsula” Newsletter for Gower – to Chairman in first inst.

h)       Gower Society Newsletter and programme, Spring 2010, to Chairman in first inst. 

i)        Clerks & Councils Direct, March 2010, Issue 68, to Chairman in  first inst.

j)       Heritage in Wales (CADW), Issue 45, Spring 2010, to Councillor Mrs. C. Grove in first inst.

7.       Any Other Business

a)       Gower Community Councils Website.  

          Noted AGM to be held on 20/4/10 – Councillor Mrs. C. Grove to attend and report back.

b)      Potholes.  

          Noted bad potholes A4118 Nicholaston Cross going west.   Agreed matter be taken up with Highways Department.

c)       Bend, Penmaen Hill.  

          Noted road surface on the double bend needs looking at urgently.  Local Members are more than willing to meet representatives of the Authority to discuss problems with regard to the high level of accidents at this location.   Agreed matter be taken up with Highways Department.

d)      Date of Next Meeting

          Noted date of next meeting as Wednesday, 28 April 2010 at 7.30 p.m.

          Further noted date of May meetings as AGM at 7.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 26 May 2010, immediately followed by the monthly meeting.

         

As there was no further business, the meeting closed at 8.20 p.m.
