·      Dr. Waymark reported on repairs to emergency door and one blind.

·      Two quotations received for external lighting and the fan in the ladies’ toilet.  AYB Electrics for £310 and Killay Electrics for £324, (both excluding VAT).  Agreed to accept the quotation from AYB Electrics.

·      The Council’s insurers had asked about the arrangements for the external lighting in respect of the claim pending.

·      As a result of the above damage the police community support officers had visited the hall car park on several occasions and there seemed to be a temporary abatement of the problem.

·      General nuisance around the hall – consider a number of options from barriers to chippings and external security.  Agreed that this be discussed by the Hall Committee following discussions with other users of the complex, i.e. School, Surgery and Library.

Field Management Committee

·      Dr. Waymark reported on field bookings and progress on the fencing.

·      It was agreed that an advertisement be made for a cleaner for the changing rooms.

·      Mrs. James asked about the grant to the Carnival for the additional barriers.   Estimated cost to be submitted to the Clerk.

·      Mrs. Radcliffe asked for more details from Spencers as to the actual work done each month.  Spencers to be asked to supply this information.

·      Noted that Mr. Ken Bidder had planted two 4ft. copper beech trees in the older part of the Burial Ground.  Agreed Mr. Bidder be thanked for his donation.

·      Noted letter of appreciation from St. Mary’s church for Section 137 grant.

·      Mr. Nash reported a big increase in house burglary, up by 25%, due mainly to open access by householders.

 

 

Community Councils

·      One Voice Wales – Dr. Cook reported on the last meeting which was mainly about the possibility of Dunvant Community Council being wound up.

·      One Voice Wales – noted meeting held on 4th May 2006 about Fairwood Hospital.

·      Noted Community Forum held on 2nd May 2006 about Swansea Forums and the National Eisteddfod.

·      No report

 

 

Pennard Area Community Partnership

·      Mr. King reported on the last meeting about variable speed limits and closing school gates.

Mrs. James reported on the AGM held on the 25th May 2006.  Two new councils have joined the website, the events page being considered for expansion, a grant application pending, no additional fee required from participating councils for the current financial year.

AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY

50TH ANNIVERSARY

The 50th Anniversary celebration now finalised with an exhibition being held at Swansea Museum from 16th May to 13th August.  The official opening will be on 19th May between 7.00pm and 9.00pm.

Mrs James was thanked for her hard work in producing the newsletter.  Suggested that there is agreement at the meeting when the draft newsletter is produced as to who will deliver to which area.
