Minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 9th October 2007 

 

1.       Attendance: Rob Dyer (RD) (Chair), Steve Walmsley (SW) (Vice Chair), Christopher Beynon (CB), Nicola Rees (NR), Anne Morse-Jones (AMJ), Sally Beynon (SB), Selina Taylor (ST) (Clerk)

2.       Apologies:  Roger Button (RB)

3.       Declaration of interests: 

4.       Minutes of the last meeting: SB was not at the last meeting.  AMJ proposed as a true copy.

5.       Matters arising:  DL said that side of road at School Lane has been cut, to improve safety.

6.       National Trust: none

7.       Footpaths: Cheque for £25 from RB for previous set of maps.  RB bought 100 FP leaflets RB invoiced for £25.  NCI still owe £15. 

8.       Highways: Light at bottom of School Lane has fused.  30mph sign needs to replaced in entrance to Pitton.  Letter to owner asking them to move ivy that is at side of lane opposite Brook Cottage as it is being dragged into the road.

9.       Village Hall & car park: Broken £10K barrier for lettings this Summer.  Looking to employ someone to manage it next year.  Timer will be put on light in stairwell and remove switch at front.

10.   Recycling: AMJ said in Summer, the Youth Hostel left all recycling out in black bags.  SB said that now all rubbish is sorted inside.  RD said that anyone can make use of plastic recycling at Pitton Cross Campsite.  Letter to recycling dept. saying concern about lack of facility for cardboard and plastic collections in Gower.
11.    Bus service cancellations:  AMJ mentioned that big problem because buses are breaking down.  DL was waiting for bus in Swansea, can’t move in case it arrives, nobody informed.  Waited for ten past one bus, and when it arrived, wasn’t running and had to wait until 2:10pm.  Why can’t tannoy announce what is happening?  Letter to John Davies.
12.   Newsletter: Village Hall, -RS, Youth Club – JH, Wednesday Club – DT, Church Services, NT – SJ anything to add.  Deadline 31/10/07.  Mention skip in newsletter.

13.    Items relating to clerk: Filing cabinet, SW to look into getting a filing cabinet, said that should be space in cellar.  Will verify with the Hall Committee.  Noticeboard in Rhossili – SW said he will look at it.  Salary.   ST to monitor hours for next month.  RD said that he thought clerk was getting paid with precepts and suggested that clerk was paid £500 now and that when salary had been agreed, the 3rd payment amount would be made up to the total.

14.    WA correspondence: Fire and Rescue National Framework for Wales – respond by 20/12/07.

15.   One Voice Wales: none
16.   Planning applications: none
17.   Finance:  Accounts have been audited.  CB suggested that we were going to have two skips 24th Nov or 1st Dec.  Need quotes for £ and capacity.

18.    Correspondence:  Glasdon products, Morriston Phoenix Choir asking for funds, Community Councils Forum 18/09/07, Lord Mayor’s Charity Extravaganza, Commons Commissioner registration of land in other parts of Gower, Gower Society newsletter, DEFRA re exportation of horses from GB to Jersey.  Rural Development Plan 2007-2013 passed to RB.  Swansea Community Health Council annual report.
