Minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 13th June 2006

 

Attendance:          Rob Dyer (RD) (Chair), Steve Walmsley (SW) (Vice Chair), Anne Morse-Jones (AMJ), Roger Button (RB), Selina Taylor (ST) (Clerk)

1.       Apologies:             Christopher Beynon (CB)

2.       Declaration of interests:  none

3.       Minutes of the last meeting: Approved

4.       Matters arising: SW entered the meeting.  None.

5.       New Councillors:  Posts advertised in newsletter and on noticeboards.  No applications as yet.

6.       National Trust: AMJ said that there has been a complaint about excessive NT signage between shop and gate.  RD will go and look.  AMJ mentioned that Rhossili was covered on radio last Saturday and NT including tenant Lucy Brereton spoke.  SJ emailed to say that stile opposite Pitton Cross will be replaced with a dog stile in the near future.  ST contacted Leigh Freeman re. Footpath maps.  Needs another invoice and will buy more.  ST to follow up. 

7.       Footpaths:  Letter to D of E sent, no response as yet.  F/P round side of church needs to be cleared.  Letter to Steve Parry.

8.       Highways:  Only 1 to 2 of 5 drains working in School Lane.  Review drains and take remedial action to clear.  Illuminated sign in Bishopston was provided by SCC.  Letter to Highways asking for consideration be given to installation of an electronic illuminated traffic sign approximately 100yds after the commencement of the 30mph signs on Pitton Hill, travelling in the direction of Rhossili.  The roads in this area are heavily used by pedestrians in the summer months and there is no footpath and cars are presently proceeding at excessive speeds.
On road adjacent to Pitton common there are a number of bushes which are in danger of protruding on the carriageway.  These need to be trimmed back.

9.        .|XCVillage Hall:  Meetings clash tonight, so SW cannot attend.  Hope that most exterior work will be done by end of June.  Volunteers asked for to help.

10.    Newsletter: Ready to deliver.  Awaiting feedback.  Suggestion that maybe negative feedback on the obituary that was included.  Hasn’t been done before, but was never asked for.

11.    Public Inquiry into dredging: Receipt from Gower society for £50 to fighting fund.  Proof has been submitted by the coalition.

12.    WA correspondence: Electoral arrangements in Wales.  Passed to SW.  Comments by 4th Sept.  Meeting of regional committee 9th June.

13.    One Voice Wales: Car allowances 2006/2007 & receipt of membership £30 passed to SW.  Confirmation of membership 2006/2007.  Request for volunteers in Eisteddfod.  OVW newsletter.

14.    Planning applications: Minutes of extra meeting 26th March.  Accepted as a true record.

2005/0099 has been recommended for approval and was due to be considered today.  Our previous letter was not included in the green papers.

15.    Matters relating to clerk: Deferred to next meeting.  Resignation letter dated 24/06/05.

16.    Finance:  2005/2006 Audit Annual return 2006.  £100.80 newsletter cost for printing.  RCC agreed to pay.

17.    Correspondence:  Lord Mayor’s civic merit awards.  Mrs Swinerton mentioned that stream has not been running through their garden for last 12 months.  Ran over last week or so.  Charter 88 empowering citizens & local councils.  Community Councils Standards Sub –Committee vacancy.  Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service notice of forthcoming consultation.  Lord Mayor’s Civic Merit Awards.  Local Works Spring 2006.  Annual report of the County Archivist 2005-06.  Unison – meeting with NHS Trust Board Members 7th June.  Safer Swansea meeting 22nd June.
